Church Leadership

Pastor

Jon Wixtrom is a graduate of the University of South Florida (BA in Religious Studies) and Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM in Pastoral Ministry) and is currently finishing a Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He has been married to Tracie for almost fourteen years and they have been blessed with four children: Jack, Sydney, Aslan, and Eriksson.  His personal interests include coaching sports, outdoor adventure, theology, eating good chicken wings, and enjoying his family.

"I am extremely excited to be a part of what God is doing through the body of believers at Church of the Open Door.  God is using my heart and passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the church that He is building, as well as my genuine care and compassion for people, to encourage God's people to knowledge, obedience, and ministry for His glory.  The Lord has uniquely shaped me through almost eight years in full-time ministry in several different pastorates in Florida.  God's call upon my life to shepherd His people has placed within me an insatiable desire to lead, encourage, love, teach, and labor with His people to strengthen the church that Christ is building.  I am convinced that the church is established to glorify God by being a body that demonstrates the Truth of God, the supremacy of Christ, and the unity and love of His Spirit.  I am committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ no matter how unpopular, intolerant, and insensitive it may be perceived.  My only platform is the Bible, the inspired inerrant word of God and I am excited to share its truth to instill purpose and passion in His people."
